Jukti Takko Aar Gappo (Reason, Debate and a Story) / 1974 / Bengali

Dir: Ritwik Ghatak;
FiC Rating: 5/5

Notes:
1) One of the most accomplished perosnal cinema works ever made in the history of Indian cinema. Ritwik himself plays the protagonist in ‘Jukti Takko Aar Gappo’, an alcoholic intellectual who steps out to the streets of eastern Bengal (of those times) in search of the meaning of nothingness.
2) Probably the first movie coming from any well known director that tries to throw some lights on the naxalite movement taking shape in India.
