1) Nagarik (The Citizen) is director Ritwik Ghatak’s first film which got released later after 20 years in 1976.
2) Film is a realistic commentary on post-partition India through the lens of a middle-class family set in Calcutta (now Kolkata) struggling to cope with the unexpected impoverishment.
3) A great starting point if you wish to explore the post-partition timeline through cinema medium.
