- Train journey to somewhere and nowhere – 27 Down was completed in 1973 but has barely aged. Perhaps no other film has explored so many metaphorical possibilities of train travel as this black-and-white classic.
- It was the only movie made by Kaul. He died in a drowning accident on July 20, 1974, on the day that the National Film Awards selection committee decided to give 27 Down awards for best Hindi feature and AK Bir’s cinematography.
